The Apple iPhone XR is better than the iPhone XS in usage, according to the latest report from Mixpanel. The Cupertino giant has seen low sales for its latest flagship trio and has cut down on the production line by 10%.
The iPhone XR which was launched a month later than the iPhone XS model has not overtaken it in sales, showing higher demand. However, the Apple iPhone XS Max still remains that leader in sales in spite of its high price.
The iPhone XR had been tailing the XS usage on the chart for a couple of weeks now, however, it was able to overtake it this week only.
Mixpanel says that the iPhone XS had 2.89% usage share, followed by 3.02% for the iPhone XR and the iPhone XS Max had the highest share at 3.65%. From December 24 to January 8, the iPhone XS went from 2.53% to 2.89%, which means an increase of 0.36%. During the same time period, the iPhone XR share rose by 0.78% from 2.24% to 3.02%
The 2018 iPhones continue to have a small share of the market. The report states that the iPhone XR, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus account for 30% of all active devices. The market share of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus has actually risen since the September launch of the iPhone XS.
It is surprising to note that the iPhone XS Max in spite of its higher price has seen the strongest demand. However, if the iPhone XR continues to see the high demand, it will overtake the XS Max in the next month or so. Apple has been stating for a few months now that the iPhone XR has been the most popular iPhone every single day since it was launched in October.
