Sony's future in smartphone industry not so hopeful; 55% drop in sales

04 February 2019 2

While there are a growing number of smartphone manufacturers all around the globe, the competition keeps on growing. This results in a tough time to not only the smaller names but also the well-established giants like Samsung, Apple are also facing the setbacks. This fierce competition has somehow pushed down Sony, which was once considered to be a hot player in the market when it comes to mobile phones.

Sony numbers are quite depressing for the company, knowing how the company just shipped 1.8 million Xperia smartphones which are a drop of 55 percent when compared to last year. Sony shipped 4 million smartphones in 2017 during the same time frame. This means that Sony’s mobile business is declining much faster than everyone could have expected. The company could forecast 1.1 million phones in the first three months of 2019 which is a huge drop in Sony’s mobile phones history by a massive margin.

Sony expected Xperia XZ3 was aimed to turnaround the fortune for the company, it seems that Sony fans are declining all around the globe. Besides all this, Sony would aim to launch another phone at MWC which is due at the end of this month.

Would you opt for any Sony’s smartphone if it offers competitive specifications to the top names? Let us know with your opinion in the comment section below.
