Social media giant Facebook continues expanding its hegemony by expanding Facebook feature set. The company partnered with PayPal long ago and offered PayPal as a payment option through Facebook Messenger to make payments easier on the platform. Now in the latest development, Facebook seems to be working under the hood to make Facebook Marketplace a much powerful place to buy and sell products.
This is Facebook’s very own mobile payment solution that has begun showing up on Android and iOS apps that would help buyers to purchase products on Facebook. For example, by searching Marshmello Music, you’d notice this feature live. Currently, this very payment solution isn’t out for everyone and is being under testing for specified pages on Facebook though if this happens to be a success, Facebook could make it mainstream.
Pay with Facebook would allow faster and more secure payments though currently, the system seems to support Visa, Mastercard and interestingly cryptocurrency though the placeholder seems to be confusing for now.
To make the payment, the buyer would first send a request to the seller who could then accept or refuse the request. While the solution doesn’t seem to be finished and could be improved, it’s certainly applaudable how Facebook is making efforts to improve the overall Facebook Marketplace experience better.
