Sega Genesis Mini officially announced and priced at $80

02 April 2019 4

The Sega Genesis Mini has been made official at the Sega Fest 2019. Even before its official announcement, Walmart had put the gaming console up for pre-orders. The much-awaited gaming console will be available for purchase from the 19th of September. The device is expected to sell at a price tag of $80 (approximately £70. INR 5,500).

The retro gaming console will come preloaded with 40 games. Some of them include Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Space Harrier 2, Shining Force, Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, ToeJam & Earl, Comix Zone, Altered Beast and Gunstar Heroes. More games will be announced by the company later on.

The Sega Genesis Mini will be based on the original Sega Genesis and not the second version which followed the original towards the end of its lifespan. Included in the box are the console itself, two replica three-button USB controllers, one USB to Micro-B power cable, and one HDMI cable. Customers in the U.S are lucky as they will get a power cable included in the box as well. Lately, Nintendo has been re-releasing a lot of older consoles as mini versions. This trend started with the NES Classic and continued with the SNES Classic.
