Oppo replaces F and R-series with Reno

Oppo has announced that it will be replacing the R-series and Find series with the new Reno series globally. The company had unveiled two new smartphones under the Reno series earlier this week, called the Reno and Reno 10x Zoom Edition. The new Reno smartphones come with AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection.

The company is planning to concentrate on the new Reno series. Oppo's Senior Vice President Shen Yiren has stated that the company will be pulling the plug on the Oppo R series.

In an interview, Oppo’s Senior VP Shen Yiren stated that the company will be killing the R series. The company plans to focus more on the new Oppo Reno and its Find series. It has recently launched the Oppo Reno and the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition in China. The last Find series phone was the Oppo Find X which had a cool sliding mechanism for its camera.

Now according to sources, Oppo is also shutting down the Find series as well. A source stated, “OPPO’s mobile division has completed its 10-year anniversary in China, and on the occasion, it wants to make some changes to its line-up. OPPO will be discontinuing the F series the line-up, and replacing it with Reno series.” The source added, “The changes will reflect in India as well, where the vendor has completed 5 years.”

The Reno series smartphones will launch in India on May 28th. The Reno 10X Zoom Edition boasts of 10X hybrid zoom mechanism with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. It has a 6.65-inch AMOLED display and a Shark Fin pop-up selfie camera. It runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 out of the box and is backed by a 4,065mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The OPPO Reno has a 6.4-inch full-screen display and Snapdragon 710 SoC, a dual 48 MP + 5 MP rear sensor and a 16 MP selfie shooter. It has a 3,765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging and runs Android 9.0 with ColorOS 6.0 UI.
