Verizon today announced their new 4G LTE equipped SmartHub box. The router provides you with the increased bandwidth and acts as a smart home controller.
The SmartHub uses the Verizon’s 4G LTE network to connect your smartphones, laptops and other smart devices. You can continue using your existing home phone number for placing HD Voice calls with the SmartHub.
To use the device as a smarthome controller, download Verizon Home, a companion app for SmartHub. The app lets you conveniently control smart home devices from your smartphone itself irrespective of where you are. You can get notifications on your smartphone and can even schedule routines like adjusting lights, setting thermostat temperatures and more. You can even control door locks, lights, and security cameras. This way you can keep an eye of what is happening in your home when you are not around.
Verizon Home also lets you set up home automation. You can use the app to trigger your Nest thermostat which will start warming your house when you’re heading home. You can also unlock your front door from your car via Kwikset Home Connect.
Thanks to the included replacement battery, SmartHub also has a critical battery backup which lets you make calls even when the power is out.
Verizon SmartHub is available for $199.99 or $99.99 with a two-year contract.
