Microsoft working on fixing the bug deactivating Windows 10 Pro

09 November 2018 4

Microsoft's Windows division has not been having best of the times since the rollout of Windows 10 October 2018 update. It all started with the bug which resulted in file and important data deletion of users post update installation. While the team did manage to fix the issue, it has a new issue to deal with now.

Many of the users have come forward to share their ordeal on Reddit where they have mentioned about a bug responsible for deactivating their Windows 10 Pro licenses. This is not just it as the bug is also asking affected users to install Windows 10 Home to keep availing benefits of using a genuine Windows. The users are further seeing the activate Windows watermark which is usually seen on pirated or demo versions.

In response, Microsoft has acknowledged the existence of the bug and said that the team is working on releasing a fix for the same.

Here is the official response from Jeff Jones, Senior Director at Microsoft,

"A limited number of customers experienced an activation issue that our engineers have now addressed. Affected customers will see the resolution over the next 24 hours as the solution is applied automatically. In the meantime, they can continue to use Windows 10 Pro as usual.”

The issue seems to be related to Windows 10 activation servers. Microsoft has offered a 24-hour timeline for the fix release but we will keep you updated on exactly how everything goes.
