It’s only been a few months since the Moto Z Play was seeded with an update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat which was already a little too late considering the fact that Lenovo had launched the second iteration of the Motorola smartphone. Weeks after unveiling the 10-inch MotoTab with Snapdragon 625, Motorola has now kicked off the testing of Android Oreo to its flagship device of yesteryear.
In accordance with its list of devices it promised to update to Android 8.0 Oreo, the developmental team is now working on bringing Google’s latest mobile OS to Motorola handsets. To make matters interesting, the Moto Z Play is now being tested with the Oreo update.
A certain unit of the Moto Z Play was spotted at GeekBench and what caught the eye the most is the fact that it was Android 8.0-powered. The same was confirmed when another screenshot of the handset showcased the ‘About Phone’ section of the Motorola handset.
While we have no idea as to whether the update will be released next month but from we see in the screenshot, the update would boost the security level of the Moto Z Play to December batch of Android security patches.
