If you are a Motorola user waiting for Android Pie upgrade rollout, you are in for a surprising and slightly disappointing bit of information. As per the official support page, Motorola has now started working on the Android Pie build with plans of releasing the upgrade sometime in the future.
It has not mentioned any device's name for the Android Pie upgrade. It means while there is no official list out yet, we can expect it to release the update for all 2018 releases. This includes the likes of Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 Plus, and Moto E5 family. As for older devices, the update could arrive on at least flagship offerings.
But apart from the uncertainty on what devices will actually get the update, there are no words on the timeline yet as well. In fact, it appears like Motorola has started to work on the upgrade recently. This is quite surprising as Google started releasing Android P Developer Previews earlier this year. It is difficult to guess why did Motorola choose to avoid testing the developer builds and wait until the stable version was released.
If we compare this with other OEMs, HMD Global has already confirmed that all of the Nokia phones will get upgraded to Android Pie. Sony and Huawei have released a few devices which will be first in the line to receive the latest Android version. This clearly shows that Motorola's attitude towards releasing updates has clearly been a disappointment.
