Moto Z4 Play leak suggests 48MP camera and in-display fingerprint scanner

06 February 2019 2

While most of us are eagerly waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S10 flagship, Motorola is working on its own upcoming devices under the Moto G7 and Moto Z4 series. A new Moto Z4 Play leak has emerged revealing a lot of significant details regarding the phone's specifications and features. The leak has been shared by an Indian online publication 91Mobiles citing an anonymous reliable source.

The leak claims that the Moto Z4 Play will be sporting a 6.22-inch display with a U-shaped notch at the top. It is expected to come with a Super AMOLED display panel as it is claimed to be the first Motorola smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, it is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor making it one of the first phones to offer the new chipset.

There will be two configuration models: 4GB of RAM with 64GB internal storage and 6GB of RAM with 128GB internal storage. The report does not mention it but there is likely to be support for microSD cards as well. In the camera department, there is said to be a 48-megapixel rear sensor but it is not confirmed whether it will be the only sensor. It means there is a possibility that Motorola might go for dual or triple camera setup. The sensor itself is said to be likely to be Q Technology's S5KGM1SP sensor.

The whole package is reported to be powered by a 3600mAh battery. On the software front, it will be running Android 9 Pie out of the box. There will also be magnetic pins on the back panel which means the Moto Z4 Play will offer Moto Mods support as well. All of the existing Moto Mods will work with the device without any hassles.

There are no words on the Moto Z4 Play pricing and availability details yet but speculations suggest an official launch within the first half of the year.
