Motorola makes Moto G7, G7 Plus, G7 Power, and G7 Play official

07 February 2019 3

As expected, Motorola has officially launched the Moto G7 lineup at an event held in Brazil. This year's Motorola G family comprises of four smartphones: Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power, and Moto G7 Play. All of these phones come with a notched display and try to offer a better value for money than any of the previous Moto G families.

Moto G7 Plus

Starting with the Moto G7 Plus, it is the most premium offering in the lineup. It sports a 6.24-inch Full HD+ (2270 x 1080 pixels) Max Vision IPS LCD display. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The two variants come with 64GB and 128GB internal storage respectively and further support microSD cards.

It has a 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual rear camera setup with f/1.7 and f/2.2 aperture along with optical image stabilization. Motorola specifically talked about how the phone will be able to capture good shots even in low-light situations. There are also a bunch of AI camera features like Smart Composition and Auto-Smile capture to help users get better shots. On the front, it has a 12-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

The whole package is powered by a 3000mAh battery with 27W TurboPower fast charging. This is claimed to offer a battery backup of up to 12 hours with only 15 minutes of charging. Other features include Dolby Audio support, USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3.5mm headphone jack. It will be running Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

The Moto G7 Plus has been priced at EUR 299.99 (base model) and is already available for purchase in Brazil and Mexico. It will be released throughout Europe in mid-February followed by expansion to Australia and in other Latin America countries in coming months. There are two color options: Blue and Red.

All other phones in the series are more or less similar with a few changes in specifications here and there. This is the reason we will have a quick look at what they offer and for what price.

  • Motorola has kept the right approach to run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, which is a direct advantage in the OS category. And the Bluetooth 5.0 as well. Industry trends!

      • A pretty sedate launch, understandable! But now the phones are official, the next curiosity is to check when they are coming to other markets.

          • For all the right reasons, the 5,000mAh battery should offer extended usage to users who need to be glued to their phones for various reasons. And with Android 9, it should also be saving the battery juice too.
