Motorola has officially unveiled two new Moto G-series smartphones named Moto G8 Power and Moto G8 Stylus. Both of these are mid-range smartphones with a similar set of specifications except for a couple of major differences. While the first one is a phone aimed at users looking for long-lasting battery life, the second one is the first Motorola smartphone with a stylus.
The Moto G8 Power sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2300 x 1080 pixels) Max Vision IPS display. It is a tall display with 19.17:9 aspect ratio and very slim bezels with an 88% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of onboard storage with expansion support up to 512GB.
The triple rear camera setup includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel 118-degree wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.2 aperture. There are numerous camera modes and features to help users click different kinds of shots depending on the situation and subject. It also has a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p at 120fps video recording support.
The whole package is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging. It is claimed to last for up to 3 days on a single charge. It will run vanilla Android 10 out of the box. Other noteworthy features include dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby, water repellent design, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a fingerprint scanner.
As for the pricing, the Moto G8 Power will cost $249.99 in the United States. It will be sold by Best Buy, B&H Photo, Walmart, and Amazon followed by Verizon, U.S. Cellular, Consumer Cellular, Republic Wireless, and Xfinity Mobile.
The Moto G8 Stylus features exactly the same display size, display panel, and processor as the Power model. The configuration option includes the same 4GB of RAM but double the storage space i.e. 128GB. It also has a triple rear camera setup but with a different set of sensors: a 48-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 16-megapixel 117-degree Action Cam sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel Macro sensor. The front camera is the same 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
It has a 4,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support. The battery capacity is said to be good enough for lasting for up to 2 days. It will also run Android 10 out of the box. The Moto G8 Stylus is priced at $299.99 with sales via Best Buy, B&H Photo, Walmart, and Amazon and afterward, it will be made available through Verizon, Metro by T-Mobile, and Republic Wireless.
