The pioneer in WiFi routers Linksys its expensive range of home mesh routers Velop at last year's CES. The high price meant not everyone who liked the product could buy it. This is something Linksys seems to have noticed as it has now unveiled an affordable and smaller WiFi mesh router in the Velop lineup.
It is a dual-band WiFi router offering with smaller-sized towers as compared to the last year's release. These are capable of offering WiFi speed up to half of what the tri-band system is able to. Each node of the system is a Dual-Band AC 2x2 802.11ac Wave 2 with MU-MIMO radio configuration with the ability to offer up to 1300 Mbps internet speed.
The good thing is that it will also be showing you recommendations of spots while setting up the whole mesh router network in your house. The connection setup can be done using the companion Linksys app available for both Android and iOS platforms. The setup will also work with Amazon Alexa which means if you have any Echo device, you can use it to manage and control the network.
Linksys is yet to announce the pricing for this new dual-band WiFi router but we expect it to be made official in the near future.
