Huawei P20 and the P20 Pro are now official and these devices have various features to flaunt. First off and the foremost, in fact, are the AI-powered cameras. Richard Yu, Huawei CEO detailed much about the camera photography of the same. And, before you dig into the details of the camera, you first know that Huawei P20 series has received the highest ever DxOMark score.
The Huawei P20 has received a whopping overall mobile camera rating of 102 and the P20 Pro has received 109. It was the Galaxy S9+ that grabbed the highest score of 99 but these two phones have just surpassed it.
Yu has shared the Photos sub-score and video score. Huawei P20 has received the 107 score in Photos and 94 in the video, whereas the P20 Pro has received 114 in Photo and 98 in Video, which is again highest than other flagships
For now, we only have the details of the P20. Unlike the P20 Pro, the P20 comes with dual-camera setup and holds the second position on DxOMark Mobile overall ranking. DxOMark praises P20 by elaborating where the camera of the device masters. The camera delivers good detail and dynamic range in all conditions. Scoring 94 for Video, the P20 is the third-best smartphone for videography that DxOMark has tested.
According to DxOMark, “the Huawei P20’s camera performance leaves little room to complain.” Noise is very well under control, white balance system produces vivid and pleasant color response. The camera of P20 performs quite well in low-light condition. The autofocus doesn’t slow down or decrease in accuracy in low light.
It should be noted that P20 doesn’t come with a dedicated optical telelens, but the secondary monochrome high-resolution sensor and some image processing produce decent zoom results. The secondary lens is used for depth sensing; the amount of blur produces a natural look.
According to DxOMark, the P20 produces bright and vivid shots in most of the conditions; it has a very fast and accurate autofocus; it does an excellent balance between the texture and noise when it comes to still photography. In terms of videography, the P20 has very efficient stabilization, good white balance in bright light and indoor conditions, but it does show some loss of fine detail in bright light. Sometimes there are noticeable halos and loss of sharpness in still image shots.
