19 June 2018 4

Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A seem to be missing one key feature of Xiaomi phones. This is the Infrared (IR) sensor that makes Xiaomi phones remote controller so that they could control various household electrical appliances like TV, AC, and more.

Now, according to a report from Gizmochna citing ITHome, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are missing the IR blaster. This highly reflects that the Chinese company has finally decided to ditch the IR blaster. Xiaomi always includes this basic feature in its phones but seems like the two new phones powered by MediaTek P22 and A22 processors have failed to include the same. Well, the reason is unknown behind the same but this change is quite significant, considering its devices have been featuring it up until now.

This IR blaster works with Xiaomi's Mi Remote app with the help of which the user control electronics. This is a very useful feature and it has become sort of associated with the brand. Many people use this feature but many just don’t but still, it was a great help on the smartphones. Those who have used Xiaomi mobile will know the pain of not having them.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A went official in China as the budget handsets. The Redmi 6 is powered by the Helio P22 chipset and the Redmi 6A has Helio A22 processor. Both of them feature 5.45-inch HD+ display of 720x1440 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio and also back the same 3,000mAH battery capacity.
