The Oppo Find X has finally been made official at the launch event held in Paris. Even though we knew pretty much everything about the smartphone already, the event included some more details and the Find X Automobili Lamborghini edition. It is the latest flagship and most expensive Oppo smartphone yet for a starting price of €999.
The highlighting aspect of the Oppo Find X is its 'pure' bezel-less display with no notch or any kind of hindrance to the full-screen experience. In the first look or any number of look thereafter, you will find 6.4-inch OLED display panel with negligible bezels and an impressive 92.25% screen-to-body ratio. Since we said that there is no hindrance to the full-screen experience, it means that there is no selfie camera or sensors either. If you are wondering where are they, then it is another interesting and unique aspect of the flagship.
Oppo has opted for the motorized pop-up camera mechanism which features a separate tray-like structure housing the cameras and sensors. This tray resides behind the Find X chassis and comes out whenever you trigger the camera app. This is the reason it is being referred as "Stealth 3D" camera as it is visible only when in use. Once you close the app, the tray slides back into the chassis.
As far as durability is considered, Oppo said that it tested the pop-up camera mechanism for 300,000 slides and an average user unlocks their phone about 100-150 times a day. It means the mechanism should work fine for at least five years. This is more important considering that the Find X does not have a fingerprint scanner. It offers facial recognition and to use that, the camera will have to pop-up out and slide back everytime the user would want to unlock the phone.
To wrap up technical specifications, the Oppo Find X comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. There are a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual camera setup on the back and a 24-megapixel single shooter on the front. The selfie camera can also be used for 3D facial recognition and 3D Omoji (animated emoji). It has 3730mAh battery with VOOC fast charging to keep the lights on and runs Color OS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Oppo Find X has currently been announced for Italy, France, Spain, and the Netherlands for €999 with sales starting in August. It is a dual-SIM phone with support for worldwide LTE band. There is also a special edition called Find X Automobili Lamborghini edition which has been announced in collaboration with Lamborghini. It comes with carbon fiber back panel with the cool Lamborghini logo. There is 512GB of storage and support for Super VOOC fast charging. It has been priced at €1699 for anyone who can afford the special edition.
