Amazon has now launched the Fire HD 10 Kids edition tablet which, as you must have guessed, is meant for kids. This new tablet is powered by exactly the same hardware specifications as the standard Fire HD 10 tablet from last year. The only difference is that the newer one has a bunch of features tailor-made for kids.
To start off, the all-new Fire HD 10 Kids edition tablet comes with a free kids-proof case available in three colors: Blue, Yellow, and Pink. And even despite that, your kids end up damaging the tablet, Amazon is offering "worry-free warranty" for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase. Under this warranty, it is claiming to replace the tablet with "no questions asked" policy.
Other than this, each of these tablet units will come with free Amazon FreeTime Unlimited subscription for one year. This is a service which boasts over 15,000 age-appropriate books, videos, educational apps, and games for kids. There are also thousands of hand-curated YouTube videos and websites which are kid-friendly. It means there is a plenty of content for your kids to consume which should help them learn new things.
The tablet further offers a bunch of parental controls so that parents can keep an eye on what their kids are up to. These include the ability to set separate time limits for weekdays and weekends, set FreeTime shutdown time, set time limits for particular content categories, set limitations to entertainment unless education goal for the day is completed, set screen time for the day, enable/disable web browser, and more. There is also a dedicated dashboard for parents from where they can check all the details and usage insights.
In terms of technical specifications, it sports a 10-inch Full HD display. It has a quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. There is 32GB of onboard storage for storing all the data and apps/games installation.
The Fire HD 10 Kids edition tablet is currently up for preorders via Amazon. It has been priced at $199.99 which makes it expensive than the standard offering but it does come with a number of additional benefits. It will start shipping July 11th in the United States.
