Archos Hello 5, 7, and 10 are smart displays but with full Android OS

30 August 2018 1

Archos is a French consumer electronics brand known for releasing products in line with the latest technology trends. This is the reason it ventured into smart displays product category earlier this year and now, it has unveiled three new smart display devices at IFA 2018. These are part of the Hello series and offer more or less same set of features and even the design language.

These three new products are known as the Archos Hello 5, Hello 7, and Hello 10. This is simply because they offer 5-inch, 7-inch, and 10-inch display respectively. If you exclude the display size difference, there is nothing much to differentiate these devices from each other.

All of them run full Android 8.1 Oreo OS which makes them one of the first smart display products to do so. It means while you will get all the benefits of Google Assistant, you will also get all the goodies for running a complete Android version. But again, this also makes the line of difference between a tablet and a smart display a lot thinner.

In terms of other technical details, all three come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The display resolution remains the same on all display sizes. There is a quad-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, two microphones. The one major difference among these models is that only Hero 7 supports both landscape and portrait orientations. As for battery capacity, the Hero 5 and 7 come with a 3000mAh battery and Hero 7 offers a 6000mAh battery. And yes, they are compatible with almost every smart home appliance as long as it works with Android OS.

Archos has priced the Hello 5, Hello 7, and Hello 10 at €129, €149, and €199 respectively. These will go on sale in Europe starting late September.

It's good enough to see that the difference is only between the size and the other specs remain the same. Change of specs along with the size are confusing to the buyers.
