Today surprisingly Xiaomi announced three new Mi 8 series smartphones at the Chengdu event. So far all rumors were regarding the Mi 8 Youth and the in-glass fingerprint scanner variant but the company unveiled Mi 8 Lite as well. As the name suggests the Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Lite are targetted to budget-conscious customers whereas the Mi 8 Pro with an under-glass fingerprint scanner is another premium variant of flagship Mi 8.
Along with the standard Mi 8 flagship, the company is currently selling Mi 8 Explorer edition with the in-glass scanner. The Mi 8 Explorer edition features a transparent rear whereas the new Mi 8 Pro has glass rear with gradient finish. Soon after the announcement, the device is currently up for pre-orders with a release from Sept 21.
Another improvement in the Mi 8 Pro is related to the display frame rate. The company joins hand with Unreal Engine, now while playing PUBG, the frame rate is better. Apart from these upgrades rest of the specs sheet remains the same.
The Mi Pro also features a 6.21-inches display with a notch design. Its an AMOLED display with Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2248 pixels. The display aspect ratio remains 18.7:9. The Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC is powering the device with 6/8GB RAM and the Adreno 630 takes care of graphics. The device is available in 128GB storage variant only. The dual rear cameras remain 12MP whereas the selfie snapper is 20MP with f/2.0 aperture.

The Mi 8 Pro is available in gradient finish and Gold color in two configurations with 6GB and 8GB RAM. The base variant with 6GB RAM can be pre-ordered at 3,199 Yuan whereas the 8GB RAM model costs 3,599 Yuan. The company claims the in-glass fingerprint scanner on the Mi 8 Pro is 29% faster than the MI 8 EE.
