As expected, Huawei sub-brand Honor has officially unveiled its latest flagship Magic 2 at an event just concluded in China. It is a successor last year's Magic and like that, it brings a number of cool and unique features. The biggest one is the introduction of a total of six cameras: three on the back panel and three on the front panel. It further has a slider mechanism for the selfie cameras which allowed it to offer a full-screen viewing experience without opting for a notch.
The Honor Magic 2 sports a 6.39-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 108% DCI-P3 color gamut. Since there is a slider mechanism and no notch, all you see is glass on the front panel with rounded corners which is claimed to be a 91% screen-to-body ratio.
Under the hood, it has the HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor which made its debut with the Huawei Mate 20 series earlier this month. It boasts Dual NPU (Neural Processing Unit) which should result in even more efficient and faster AI processing. It comes with 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB internal storage and 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB internal storage depending on the configuration variant you choose. It also has Honor's own YOYO digital assistant to help you get things done.
On the back panel, you will find a 16-megapixel standard sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 24-megapixel monochrome sensor with f/1.8 aperture, and a 16-megapixel super wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture with AIS anti-shake support and single LED flash. There is support for AI scene detection, 480fps slow-motion videos in 720p, 4K video recording, 3D dynamic panorama, portrait mode, and tons of other photography modes. The selfie triple camera setup comprises of a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel shooter with f/2/.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel shooter with f/2.4 aperture with support for Full HD video recording.
The whole package is powered by a 3500mAh battery with 40W super fast charging (full charge in 5 minutes). It also comes bundled with a 10V/4A fast charger. It further has an in-display fingerprint scanner and will be running Magic UI 2.0 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box. Other features include USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, aptX, and no 3.5mm headphone jack. It does offer a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter with the box.
The Honor Magic 2 has been priced at 3799 Yuan for the 6GB/128GB model. The models with 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configuration will cost you 4299 Yuan and 4999 Yuan respectively. There is also a special edition model with 8GB/512GB configuration priced at 5799 Yuan. The first three models are currently up for pre-orders in China while the special edition is expected to arrive sometime next month.

The first of its kind phone to have six cameras with three apiece on the front and back! But the best of the features, to me, is the slow-motion recording in 480fps.
For a change, I like the design. A slider mechanism and void of any notch. It gives that a good full clean view.
The slider mechanism has hidden the Honor Magic 2's front features like the camera and other sensors in a unique way giving it a uniform look.
