Kodak Smile instant cameras and printer lineup unveiled | CES 2019

08 January 2019 2

Kodak has introduced a new Smile lineup of instant cameras and printers at CES 2019. It features three products which have been manufactured by the Kodak licensee C+A Global. These include the Smile Classic Instant Print Digital Camera, Smile Instant Print Digital Camera, and Smile Instant Digital Printer.

Starting with the Smile Classic Instant Print Digital Camera, it a device which is basically an amalgamation of modern technological advancements and nostalgic approach towards clicking photos. In other words, it is a device which allows you to click photos like modern devices but also to get them printed like good old times. It has a pop-up viewfinder, 10-seconds timer, automatic flash, and microSD card support for storing images.

There is also a printer for printing photos (3.5-inch x 4.25-inch) clicked either via the device itself or by connecting to a smartphone. It has a companion smartphone app which allows connecting the device via Bluetooth. It allows printing of photos on Zink photo paper which is said to happen almost instantly. It has been named "Classic" because it has been designed to resemble vintage photo printers.

Next up, it is time for Smile Instant Print Digital Camera which is a lot more compact and easier to carry around. It has a 10-megapixel camera for clicking photos and an LCD viewfinder. It also has 10-seconds timer, automatic flash, and a microSD card support. There is support for editing photos and adding filters before printing them out. Since it is a relatively smaller device, it allows printed photos to be only 2-inch x 3-inch big.

Lastly, we have the Smile Instant Digital Printer which is only a printer and cannot be used for clicking photos. It features Bluetooth connectivity which allows connecting with any modern Android or iOS device. It is compatible with Kodak's companion app to offer some extra features and eventually printing photos.

Kodak has not shared any information regarding what each of these will cost or when they will go on sale. It means if you are interested, you will have to wait for the time being.
