Mobvoi TicWatch S2 and E2 with Wear OS and activity tracking released

09 January 2019 1

Mobvoi has announced two new Wear OS smartwatches called TicWatch S2 and TicWatch E2. Both these smartwatches were showcased at CES 2019 as they are successors to the TicWatch S and E respectively. With the release, Mobvoi has introduced a new motion tracking feature named TicMotion.

TicMotion feature is available on both the new smartwatches. It is aimed at tracking motions/movements and gestures to automatically detect physical activities. It is said to be capable of detecting various activities like cycling, swimming, and running. Once it will detect the activity, it will start recording stats and insights which will eventually prevent the user from starting a particular activity tracking every time.

In terms of specifications and features, both the smartwatches are made up of polycarbonate. They sport a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 400 x 400 pixels resolution. It has 22mm silicone strap which is interchangeable. Under the hood, the team has opted for the now old Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor coupled with an undisclosed amount of RAM. The whole package is powered by a 415mAh battery and it runs Wear OS out of the box. There is also water resistance support for up to 5ATM. Other features include Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and GLONASS.

It should be noted that Mobvoi has not offered NFC connectivity with the two watches. It means if you are interested in using your smartwatch for making payments, then these ones are not for you. There are no words on the pricing and availability details but these should be quite affordable considering what they bring to the table.
