Xiaomi kicks off this year by spinning off the Redmi as a separate brand. So far under this branding, the company launched three phones including Redmi Note 7, Note 7 Pro and entry-level Redmi Go. All the phones are quite successful in the respective niches.
Surprisingly the Redmi 7 was initially announced for the Indian market ahead of the local Chinese market. The company set the launch date for the Chinese market on March 18th. Today the Redmi GM Lu Weibing confirms the arrival of a new phone alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The device is expected to be the Redmi 7.
Thanks to continuous leaks and rumors we are pretty much aware regarding what to expect from Redmi 7 in terms of design and hardware. The Redmi 7 recently appeared at TENAA listing which confirms key hardware details. Like most of the latest phones, the Redmi 7 is featuring a 6.26-inches LCD display with HD+ screen resolution. The Octa-core Snapdragon 632 chipset will power the phone. There will be three variants based on storage and RAM including 2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB.
The front-facing selfie snapper is 8MP. On the rear side, you will get dual cameras of 12MP+5MP. The dual sensors are accompanied with single LED flashlight. The fingerprint scanner is on the rear side. A 3,900mAh battery is on board to keep its lights on. For connectivity, the device comes with Micro-USB port. In terms of color options the Redmi 7 is expected to be available in Pink, Green, Gray, Black, Blue, Purple, Red, and White. The base model is expected to start at 900 Yen.
