SanDisk's 1TB microSD card available now but for select countries

16 May 2019 4

SanDisk 1TB microSD card that was announced at Mobile World Congress in February has now been made available for purchase. The tiny storage device is available directly from SanDisk’s own online store for $450. It’s also available at other places so that you can buy it from your preferred choice.

You can buy the SanDisk 1TB storage from Amazon Prime in European countries like Spain, the United Kingdom, or Germany. Despite having a product listing on the Amazon US, the product isn’t available yet for purchase in the country. Reportedly, deliveries have been delayed up to three months at the time of writing. So, if you order this microSD card from the mentioned regions where it is available, you will receive it quite late.

According to the company, the 1TB microSD card can reach up to 60megabytes-per-second transferring 4K video files to compatible devices. It can also reach up to 90MB/s writing speed for cameras that can support this speed.

Note that Samsung also announced the 1TB microSD card but it hasn’t arrived yet, also Micron’s offering is unavailable too which actually offers better transfer speeds over SanDisk’s.

Today smartphones and other devices come with a massive base storage options but the HDR shots, 4K/8K recording fill up most of the storage. The mobile technology is advancing and so is the need for more storage. It’s good to note that one of such options that offer a terabyte of storage has been made available, at least to some countries. We would learn more about such offerings from some other brands in the coming months or so.

SanDisk's 60MB/s speed of transferring 4K video files and nearly 90MB/s of writing speed for cameras are already decent figures. But how much better do the Micron cards work?
