Redmi K20/K20 Pro with AMOLED display, pop-up selfie camera launched in India

Xiaomi has finally brought the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro smartphones to India after a big wait. The Chinese company started its event in the country by reminding us that Mi turns 5. Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s Global VP took a quick tour of the past to relish our memories and to tell the world how the company achieved so much in just 5 years.

Coming to the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro, the two phones grabbed enough attention even before their launch and the company, in fact, started a hashtag on social media #Believethehype to communicate that the potential of these phones is real and they are worth the wait and hype too.

Xiaomi started snatching the limelight in the early days of the OnePlus 7 Pro. The company was quite quick to turn around the tables for some budget lovers. It immediately teased its Redmi K20 Pro as the Flagship Killer 2.0 and tied its followers with curiosity and fast forward to now, the hype hasn’t gone anywhere and even making the followers eager to learn about the prices.

Redmi K20 series launched in India is no different from what was launched previously in China. The key highlight of the Redmi K20 series is its pop-up selfie camera that allows the device to embrace the bezel-less display. Furthermore, the devices include an in-display fingerprint scanner and have AMOLED display as well. The Redmi K20 being the mid-ranger is powered by Snapdragon 730 processor, on the other hand, Pro variant has Snapdragon 855 flagship processor. Apart from the chipsets, both smartphones offer similar specifications.

Price and availability

The base variant of the Redmi K20 Pro is Rs. 27,999 (6GB + 128GB) and Rs. 30,000 for 8GB + 256GB variant. On the other hand, the Redmi K20 is priced at Rs. 21,999 for the 6GB + and the 6GB + 128GB variant costs Rs 23,999. Xiaomi announced that it’s conducting a “second” Alpha sale for the Redmi K20 series on July 18th. This has been conducted to avoid the rush of the first flash sale which is happening on July 22nd at noon on Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home Stores.

The Redmi K20 Pro comes in Flame Red, Glacier Blue, and Carbon Fiber Black colors. The Redmi K20 comes in Carbon Black, Flame Red, and Glacier Blue colors.

Xiaomi also launched a special edition of the Redmi K20 Pro which is made of gold and encrusted with diamonds. The name of the device is Redmi K20 Pro Signature Edition and the making charges of this device is Rs. 4.8 lakh. This limited edition is indeed manufacturer in limited numbers. As per the company, only 20 units of this edition have been made available for purchase. The company hasn’t yet revealed the release date and price tag of this device.
