Huawei has officially announced its first smart TVs under the Honor sub-brand as Honor Vision and Vision Pro. Both of these are also the first products to run recently unveiled and Huawei's own HarmonyOS. Just like smartphones from the brand, TVs have also been packed with good hardware, features, and reasonable pricing.
Both Honor Vision and Vision Pro feature a 55-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) display with 60Hz refresh rate. It offers 178-degree viewing angles, 87% NTSC wide color gamut support, and a peak brightness of 400 nits. It also has German TUV Rheinland low blue-eye protection for more comfortable viewing experience at night.
Under the hood, the TVs are powered by a quad-core Honghu 818 processor with Mali-G51 GPU. It has 2GB of RAM which should be enough for handling tasks that are commonly performed on a TV. Huawei has packed these TVs with a number of image processing technologies including Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation (MEMC), High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR), Super-Resolution (SR), Noise Reduction (NR), Dynamic Contrast Improvement (DCI), Auto Color Management (ACM) and Local Dimming (LD).
The major difference between the two models is that the Vision Pro comes with an AI-powered pop-up camera and six far-field microphones. Both of these additional features will allow users to make and receive video calls directly on the TV. It is said to be capable of supporting video calls up to 1080p at 60fps. The Pro model also has six 10W speakers as compared to only four on the standard model.
The connectivity options include one USB 3.0 port, an Ethernet port, three HDMI ports, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 5.0. These will be running HarmonyOS 1.0 out of the box and can also be used as a smart home hub. Since these are smart TVs, they can be used for doing additional things like checking weather update and tracking packages.
Huawei has priced the Honor Vision and Honor Vision Pro at CNY 3,799 (about $540) and CNY 4,799 (about $680) respectively. Both of these will go on sale starting August 15th but can already be preordered via Vmall.
