Snap Spectacles 3 official with dual HD cameras, new design for $380

14 August 2019 0

Snap has officially announced Spectacles 3 as its third-generation smart glasses. These are a direct successor to last year's Spectacles V2 but have been released in even more limited quantity. The biggest change in the latest version is the addition of an extra HD camera taking the total count to two HD cameras.

You will find the dual HD cameras on each side of the Spectacles 3 frames. The secondary camera is meant for capturing the depth and dimension of the subject to add a 3D effect to photos and videos. In other words, these new spectacles will allow you to capture 3D photos and videos for a more immersive experience. There are also newly added 3D Effects to enhance your recorded content like adding new lighting or landscape. Like the previous two versions, an LED light ring will glow when you will be recording anything so that people around you can be aware of the same.

It is worth noting that the auto-syncing feature is still missing on Spectacles 3. It means once you have captured photos or videos, you will have to manually sync them with your Snapchat app on Android and iOS. Once the syncing is complete, only then you will be able to edit them and share with others. The new spectacles also come with a Google Cardboard-like 3D Viewer to help users enjoy the content in complete 3D experience.

Snap Spectacles 3 Colors: Mineral and Charcoal

In terms of build and design, Spectacles 3 features a strong but lightweight steel frame with adjustable tips and circular lenses. The lenses are tinted to help users stay protected against the sunlight. The overall look of the new glasses is a lot more fashionable than previous offerings.

The latest Snap Spectacles 3 comes with 4GB of onboard storage which is claimed to be enough for holding up to 1,200 photos or up to 100 videos. The resolution for photos is 1642 x 1642 pixels and for videos, it is 1216 x 1216 pixels. As for battery backup, Snap says that users should be able to click up to 70 videos and over 200 photos on a single charge. These can be recharged using the bundled case that comes with a USB Type-C port. A full charge is said to take about 75 minutes.

Snap has priced the Spectacles 3 at $380 which makes them highly expensive. These have been released in Charcoal and Mineral color variants with preorders already live on the official Spectacles website.
