The much-awaited Realme 5 series has been made official at an event held in India today. It comprises of two smartphones named Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro with a focus on smartphone photography. It is a direct successor to Realme 3 lineup which proved to be a big success in the country. The USP of the new Realme 5 series is that it offers quad rear cameras on a budget which will surely make the competition more tough for the likes of Redmi and Honor in its price segment.
The Realme 5 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) notched display with Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor coupled with 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM depending on the particular variant. The first two RAM options are available with 64GB internal storage and the last one is available with 128GB storage. All variants come with microSD card expansion up to 256GB.
The quad-camera setup on the back panel includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor (119-degree FoV) with f/2.25 aperture, 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and 2-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera on the phone is a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
The whole package is powered by a 4035mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support. It will be running ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box. Other features include a fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C port.
As for the Realme 5, it offers a bigger 6.5-inch notched display with HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor paired with 3GB and 4GB of RAM. The 3GB RAM variant features 32GB internal storage but the 4GB RAM variant offers 64GB and 128GB storage options. The microSD card support is available with all the three variants.
The Realme 5 quad cameras include a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor (118-degree FoV) with f/2.25 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, you will find a 13-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
It has a bigger 5000mAh battery to keep the lights on which also supports 10W fast charging. It ships with ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie. It also has a fingerprint scanner and 3.5mm headphone jack but a microUSB port instead of USB Type-C port.
The Realme 5 Pro has been priced at Rs. 13,999 for 4GB/64GB variant, Rs. 14,999 for 6GB/64GB, and Rs. 16,999 for 8GB/128GB variant. It will go on sale starting September 5th via Flipkart and Realme's online store.
On another hand, the Realme 5 will cost Rs. 9,999 for 3GB/32GB model, Rs. 10,999 for 4GB/64GB model, and Rs. 11,999 for 4GB/128GB model. This affordable variant will be available for purchase from August 27th through Flipkart and Realme's store. Both these smartphones will also be sold via offline stores.
