Redmi Note 8 series is confirmed to be announced on August 29 and while there’s so much information already available about the devices, more key insights are getting added to the long trail to tell you more about them before the launch. Interestingly, most of the details have surfaced via the company itself and now the latest tidbit is no different.
In the latest post on Weibo, Redmi confirms that the Redmi Note 8 will be powered by Snapdragon 665 processor, which is the same processor which also empowers the Xiaomi CC9e and the latest Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphones. On the contrary, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is confirmed to come with the MediaTek’s Helio G90T processor.
Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing also explains why the company settled for the Snapdragon 665 processor. According to his Weibo post, the Snapdragon 665 processor is an 11nm chip which is smaller than the Snapdragon 660 processor based on 14nm. The newest chip has lower power consumption and higher IQ. He also stated that the Snapdragon 665 also supports Vulkan 1.1 API which brings a 20% reduction in power consumption compared to Open GL ES. Also, the Snapdragon 665 SoC has a battery AI engine as compared to the Snapdragon 660’s Hexagon 680 DSP. He also claimed that the Redmi Note 8 takes better photos and has a better battery life than the Redmi Note 7.
In his another post, Weibing shared a few camera samples taken with the upcoming Redmi Note 8. The samples particularly highlight the camera prowess during low-light photography. He also confirmed that the latest phone will have a 48MP primary sensor in its AI quad-core setup. One camera shot is taking using the Super Night mode while the other one is shot using Long Exposure.
The Redmi Note 8 is going to have differently aligned cameras compared to its Pro variant. The sensors on the Redmi Note 8 are said to be placed in the top-left portion of the back panel in a vertical position. In the top-center position, there’s a fingerprint sensor for added security.
Well, we are too near to the launch of the Redmi Note 8 series but the company itself isn’t stopping in revealing some key aspects of them.
