GoPro launches Hero8 Black with HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilization

01 October 2019 0

GoPro has launched two new cameras with better upgrades and features to enhance your photography. One camera comes from the Hero series called the Hero8 Black and it’s a direct successor to the Hero7 action camera and another is the Hero Max.

The new Hero8 Black is 14% lighter than the current Hero7 Black action camera. It has a 12MP camera sensor with improved HDR, which can improve pictures in low-light. The company is specifically highlighting the new HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilization feature of the Hero8 Black which brings smoothness to the videos that include shakiness in real life. According to GoPro, the new HyperSmooth 2.0 has multiple levels of stabilization.

In addition to this interesting feature, the latest action camera in the Hero series has wind-noise reduction which reduces the wind noise to offer natural audio quality even at breakneck speeds.

The GoPro Hero8 Black includes three mics and it’s waterproof down to 10m. You can shoot 4K videos, in addition, to slow-motion videos. GoPro claims the Hero8 Black action camera comes with a revamped algorithm and improved HDR for better action shots.

Also, the TimeWarp effect now comes with automatic speed selection and you can just tap to speed it up or slow it down.

The all-new Hero8 Black comes with different mods to add lights mics, and more. There’s a flip-up screen mod for framing your shots. The light mod gives powerful LED lighting for the action camera. It can be attached to GoPro mount or used it alone. The third is the Media Mod which comes with a 3.5mm mic, HDMI-out ports, and two cold-show mounts.

The GoPro Hero8 Black features four digital lenses to make easier for you to select the ideal field of view. You can choose from SuperView (16mm), Wide (16-34mm), Linear (19-39mm), Narrow (27mm). The field of view changes in real-time when you toggle through the different lenses.

Hero Max

Coming to Hero Max, it comes with two lenses and can record 5.6K video in 360 degrees. Unlike the Hero8 Black, the Hero Max has a built-in front-facing display and shotgun-mic audio capabilities. It comes with Max Hypersmooth for better video stabilization. It comes with six microphones to offer a better stereo sound.

There’s a new Max SuperView ultra-wide camera mode available to fit more of the scene. It can live stream in 1080p and the users will have an option to automatically backup videos and photos to the cloud.

Price and availability

The Hero 8 Black action camera costs £379.99 / $399.99. Both the cameras are available for pre-order. The Hero8 Black will ship on October 15 and the Hero Max will ship on October 24 for $499.
