As expected, Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Mi CC9 Pro as the world's first 108-megapixel Penta-lens camera smartphone. It means the phone has a total of five cameras on the back panel including the 108-megapixel sensor. It is essentially a mid-range smartphone with a focus on camera performance.
The Penta-lens camera setup is aligned vertically with three sensors placed within a single module. The 108-megapixel main camera comes with f/1.69 aperture and four-axis optical image stabilization (OIS). It is the same Samsung camera sensor that has been developed in collaboration with Xiaomi. Other cameras include a 20-megapixel wide-angle sensor with 117-degree Field of View, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 50x digital zoom, and a macro camera sensor.
The Mi CC9 Pro sports a 6.47-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) curved AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. It offers 600 nits of brightness, HDR support, 400000:1 contrast, DCI-P3 wide color gamut, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage.
It has a 32-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The whole package is powered by a huge 5,260mAh battery which is supported by 30W fast charging. It will run MIUI 11 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box which is a slight disappointment as Android 10 is now out for some time. Other noteworthy features include Hi-Res audio support, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Pricing:
- 6GB RAM with 128GB storage for CNY 2,799 (about $399)
- 8GB RAM with 128GB storage for CNY 3,099 (about $442)
- 8GB RAM with 256GB storage for CNY 3,499 (about $499)
The smartphone is already up for pre-orders in China with sales starting November 11. You will be able to choose from Phantom Black, Snow Aurora, and Magic Green color variants.
