Xiaomi has taken wraps off the latest Mi TV range of smart TVs named Mi TV 5. There are basically two models named Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro. Both of these have been released in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch display size options. The two models are quite identical except for a few differences in the internal hardware that make the “Pro” lineup more expensive and premium.
The Mi TV 5 Pro lineup boasts of Quantum Dot LED (QLED) display panels with 4K resolution, 108% NTSC color palette, and HDR10+ support
. This is a first for Xioami and puts it at the same level as the OnePlus TV
when it comes to competition. The standard lineup features the same LED panel that we saw with the Mi TV 4 series.
Xiaomi claims that new TVs offer a 97% screen-to-body ratio as bezels are about 47% slimmer than the previous generation. They are made up of metal for sturdiness and a premium look. The smallest thickness of the 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch models measures at 5.9 mm, 6 mm, and 9.9 mm.
Under the hood, Mi TV 5 series comes with a 12nm Amologic T972 processor and a “sophisticated image quality engine technology”. This makes the TV capable of supporting 8K video playback. You will get a 3GB/32GB configuration with the Mi TV 5 and 4GB/64GB configuration with the Mi TV 5 Pro.
In terms of connectivity, you will get three HDMI ports, two USB ports, one Ethernet port along with Bluetooth and WiFi support. There are dual 8W stereo speakers with DTS Audio and Dolby Audio support. Both the standard Mi TV 5 and Pro models will go on sale starting November 11th.
