Vivo Y9s with Snapdragon 665 SoC, quad rear cameras launched

Vivo has expanded its Y-series in China with the launch of the Y9s, a new mid-range phone which has already gone official in a few markets by other names. The Vivo Y9s is the same phone that got launched as V17 in Russia recently.

Just like its twin that got launched in other markets with other names, the Y9s features the diamond-shaped camera module that carries four cameras in total - 48MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the phone carries a single 32MP camera that is housed in a waterdrop-style notch. It comes with an in-display fingerprint reader which also has a diamond-shaped like animation.

The Vivo Y9s features a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone delivers a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent. It comes powered by Snapdragon 665 processor and coupled with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage and there is a microSD card slot as well for further expansion. The phone houses a 4,500mH battery with support for 18W dual-engine fast charging through USB-C. The device comes with the FunTouch OS 9 based Android 9 Pie OS.

Price and availability

The Vivo Y9s comes in a single option of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage at 1,998 Yuan ($284). The smartphone will be available in China from December 6. It is now available for pre-orders in three color options – Glazed Black, Nebula Blue, and Symphony of Light.
