While Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765 are the highlights of Qualcomm's Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019, these are not only the new processors to get unveiled. Qualcomm is also committed to Always Connected PCs as it has taken wraps off the Snapdragon 7c, Snapdragon 8c, and Snapdragon 8cx Enterprise mobile processors.
These new chipsets are aimed at making Always Connected PCs mainstream and available across a wide range of price segments. All of them are claimed to offer accelerated artificial intelligence (AI) performance, long battery life, and lightning-fast connectivity even when on the go.
The Snapdragon 7c is a chipset aimed at entry-level Windows notebooks that are usually priced under $400. It is an octa-core chipset with eight Kryo 468 cores and Adreno 618 GPU. It is claimed to offer 25% more power than the competition while offering twice the battery life. It features the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem to ensure that users get fast 4G connectivity even when they are on the move.
Since AI is one of the key aspects of any modern processor or device, it comes with Qualcomm AI Engine capable of delivering 5 TOPS of performance on Windows 10.
The Snapdragon 8c is an octa-core processor built using the 7nm manufacturing process. It features eight Kryo 490 cores and Adreno 675 GPU for improved performance. It is said to be 30% more powerful than the Snapdragon 850 chipset. It comes with the Snapdragon X24 LTE modem for multi-gigabit connectivity speeds and smooth cloud computing experience.
It also has Qualcomm AI Engine but with an increased capability of 6 TOPS of performance on Windows 10. It is aimed at mid-range notebooks that cost around $600 in the market.
Lastly, the Snapdragon 8cx Enterprise is a high-end chipset meant for premium notebooks. It is an improved version of the Snapdragon 8cx announced last year. This new version is specifically targetted at enterprise users. It offers improvements in all aspects of what the standard 8cx is capable of. It means users will get longer battery life, more powerful performance, and better AI performance.
