Amazon has teamed up with Onida to launch Fire TV Edition smart TVs in India. These are the first-ever Fire TV-powered smart TVs in the country and will be competing with other offerings like Android TV and Samsung's Tizen platform. The Onida Fire TV smart TVs have been launched in two models: 32-inch and 43-inch.
These models come with 31.5-inch HD and 42.5-inch Full HD display respectively. Under the hood, Onida has offered an undisclosed multi-core processor with Lucent Picture Engine support. It also has dual-band WiFi compatibility, Dolby and DTS surround sound support for improved audio quality.
The connectivity options include three HDMI ports, one USB port, one Ethernet port, one RF antenna, and one composite video port. Since it is a Fire TV, it comes preloaded with Amazon Prime Video application. Some of the other apps include Netflix, Hotstar, YouTube, Sony LIV, ZEE5, and Apple TV app for the fans of online streaming.
Sandeep Gupta, VP of Fire TV Devices and Experiences said,
"We have seen great momentum to the Fire TV Edition smart TVs so far. India has been a very important market for our streaming product and we are seeing great uptake of it from across the country. We are confident of a similar response to the TVs also. The Onida Fire TV Edition has the Fire TV experience built-in, enabling customers to easily find and watch movies and TV shows from Prime Video, Hotstar, Netflix and others. We are launching two variants and will continue to look at opportunities to expand the range."
These Onida Fire TV models have been priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 32-inch model and Rs. 21,999 for the 43-inch model. Both of these will go on sale starting December 20th on Amazon India.
