Oppo F15 with quad rear cameras, in-screen fingerprint reader launched for Rs. 19,990

At an event in India, Oppo introduced the F15 smartphone with quad rear cameras for as low as Rs. 19,990. Another headliner of the phone at this price is the in-display fingerprint scanner for a more bezel-free look.

In terms of looks, the Oppo F15 has an unvarying appearance; you’d find the same teardrop-like notch, more display area and multiple cameras on the back. But it is the price that may help the device to stand apart and strong.

The Oppo F15 features a gradient colored polycarbonate profile and it has a 6.4-inch full HD+ resolution of 1080x2400 pixels. The display is protected with Gorilla Glass 5 and the fingerprint scanner is embedded beneath it. The company mentions the device has the TUV Rheinland approved screen that can filter harmful blue rays and it also carries support for DC dimming.

The Oppo F15 is powered by a 2.1GHz Helio P70 octa-core processor and paired with 8GB RAM. It includes 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage and comes with microSD card support for further expansion.

The phone houses a 4,000mAH battery that supports VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology. According to the company, its 20W rapid charging technology can charge the phone to 50 percent battery capacity in only 30 minutes. The smartphone supports playback of Widevine L1 content on streaming apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The Oppo F15 has a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture housed inside the display notch. On the back, it comprises of a 48MP main lens with f/1.7 aperture, a 119-degree 8MP ultrawide lens with f/2.25 aperture that can capture macro shots of up to 3cm, a 2MP mono lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Oppo has done some AI enhancements around the camera so that the camera could do more than just offering better pictures.

Price and availability

Oppo F15 has been launched in only one memory and storage variant and it is priced at Rs. 19,990 ($282 approx.). It comes in Lightening Black and Unicorn White color options. Customers in India can buy the device from Amazon or Flipkart from January 24. Those who purchase the device before January 26, are eligible to get a one-time screen replacement offer.

There are a few bundled offers as well, HDFC, ICICI, and Yes Bank customers can take advantage of 5 percent cash back on offline. Reliance Jio is also offering 100 percent extra data benefits.
