HP has refreshed four Chromebooks to fit them into more educational institutes. These are the new HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE and Chromebook 11A G8 EE, Chromebook 14 G6, and Chromebook x360. And, HP hasn’t added any new specifications to them but has rather made them more durable and secure. These new Chromebooks have been launched ahead of the opening day at BETT 2020 in London.
The new HP Chromebook 11 G8 EE and Chromebook 11A G8 EE have been upgraded to survive accidental drops. They are now sturdier and more rugged than ever. They both have passed MIL-STD 810G testing, so this defines the ruggedness.
They have full-skirted anchored keys, survive intentional picking as well. There are six processor options to choose from dual or quad-core Gemini Lake or Gemini Lake-R processors as well as the AMD A4 or A6 APUs. All the models include 2 USB-C ports and 2 USB-A ports. To be peculiar, the A-ports available on the Intel models are USB 3.1 while the AMD Chromebooks are only USB 2.0. Both the configurations are available with 8GB RAM but Intel models can opt for 64GB of storage while the AMD siblings only get 32GB max.
Both the 11 and 11A G8 come in your choice of Sage Green or Pebble Grey with the Intel-powered models being available this week and starting at $259. The AMD version will be available next month and the pricing is unknown.
Coming to the HP Chromebook x360 11 G3 EE, apart from the new rugged profile, the Chromebook is additionally protected with Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance. It also has a 5MP rear-facing camera on the keyboard side, useful when you are using the Chromebook s a tablet or tent mode. The price of the HP Chromebook 11 x360 G3 EE starts at $299.
The last in the bunch is the HP Chromebook 14 G6 which features a 14-inch display, 720p wide-angle webcam that can be configured with a physical privacy shutter. It has a spill-resistance keyboard that comes in a backlit variant. There’s grill just above for dual stereo speakers. It includes two USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, MicroSD, and headphone jack. It comes powered by the Intel Celeron processor which is accompanied by up to 8GB RAM, 128GB storage.
The HP Chromebook 14 G6 is available for purchase now but via commercial channels from $289.
