Polaroid launches Snap+, next-gen instant print camera at CES 2016

06 January 2016 0

Polaroid, a well-known name in cameras industry which began their journey with Polaroid Instant Film has now come up with a next-generation Snap+ camera at CES, Technology Trade Show 2016. The new Polaroid Snap+ is the successor to the first generation Polaroid Snap that made printing easy. Polaroid Snap+ as the plus signifies this instant print camera has new features and capabilities that were not present in its successor.

Polaroid Snap+ has many updates over the Snap instant camera, one of them includes a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen that makes framing of the shots easy. It’s also easy to navigate through the camera’s menu. Snap+ has an improved camera which is 13MP and comes with a CMOS sensor for higher-quality images as well as 1080p full HD video recording capability. Images and videos can be saved inside the microSD card as Snap+ allows you to use up to 128GB memory. Snap+ has a self-timer that allows selfie lovers to take awesome selfies. It also has a pop-up selfie mirror that ensures the user is framed perfectly in the shot. Interestingly, you can take the print in three color modes – black & white, Vintage, and Sepia. You can also add the option to print these photos with or without Polaroid Classic Border Logo.

Like Polaroid Snap, the new Snap+ is an integrated printer which uses ZINK’s Zero Ink Printing technology. This technology allows users to print full color 2x3’’ prints automatically when an image is captured. The users are able to put at least 10 images in the queue to print at one time. The ZINK- enabled printer uses heat to activate and colorize cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals embedded in the paper. These printers produce high quality, long-lasting and smudge-proof images without the use of any ink cartridges, ribbons or toner.

Polaroid Snap+ has an ability to print images from other connected devices. The most important feature added to the new Polaroid Snap+ is remote connectivity through Bluetooth to the Polaroid print app that allow the camera to connect to and print from other devices such as smartphones and tablets. This app is available free for iOS and Android. This feature has made Snap+ an all-in-one solution to take, print, and share images.

Polaroid Snap+ is designed in partnership with the renowned design firm Ammunition which is the same studio behind Polaroid’s previously launched products like Zip Instant photo printer, Polaroid Cube, and Polaroid Cube+ lifestyle camera actions.

Polaroid Snap+ will be available from Q4 2016 and the company didn’t mention the pricing details. Snap+ is available in White, Black, Red, and Blue color variants.
