Qualcomm today has announced that their next mobile processor, the Snapdragon 835, will feature Quick Charge 4, an ultra-fast charging technology that will charge smartphones much more quickly, efficiently, and at a lower temperature.
The Snapdragon 835 has been manufactured for Qualcomm by Samsung, and will be the company's next flagship processor after the Snapdragon 820/821. It is built on a new ultra-small 10nm process - the smallest one yet. Qualcomm hasn't released too many details about it yet, but we do know a lot more about Quick Charge 4.
QC4 is about 30% more efficient that Quick Charge 3.0. It is 20% faster, and charges at a 5°C cooler temperature.
As a result, QC4 is blisteringly fast. You will get an extra 5 hours of battery usage with just 5 minutes of charging. And if you keep it plugged in, 15 minutes will be more than enough to charge your battery up to 50%.
Quick Charge 4 is compatible with USB Type-C, as well as USB Power Delivery. Battery saving features have been built in to help extend the longevity of your smartphone battery.
QP4 is expected to come to new flagships by the start of next year. Now, you will never have to worry about your battery dying when you only have 5 minutes to leave the house. After all, as life gets busier and busier, your smartphone battery is the last thing you want to be running lower than your patience.
