MGCOOL is a Chinese consumer electronics brand which is primarily known for its lineup of action cameras. The newest additions to its lineup are the MGCOOL Explorer 1S and Explorer 2 4K action cameras. It announced both of them last week but refrained from sharing detailed information. While details regarding the Explorer 2 model are still unknown, it has now listed the detailed specifications and pricing for the Explorer 1S.
To start off the specs list, the MGCOOL Explorer 1S sports a Sony IMX078 sensor for capturing 4K shots and videos at 24fps. For handling the image processing part, it makes use of the Novatek NT96660 processor. Unlike many complete 360-degree 4K action cameras, this action camera supports video recording at only four angles: 70-degree, 110-degree, 140-degree, and 170-degree.
Since you will be using the Explorer 1S for recording videos at 4K, you will obviously require storage space for storing all those shots. For this reason, MGCOOL is offering microSD card support up to 64GB which should be good enough. Other than this, you will get a 2-inch LCD display and WiFi support. The whole package is powered by a 1050mAh battery which is claimed to last for up to 80 minutes when used for 1080p recording. It has a multi-lingual menu for better navigation and features 10 languages.
The MGCOOL Explorer 1S will also come with a waterproof case which is listed to offer waterproofing capabilities up to 30m depth. It has been priced at $79.99 and is currently available for purchase via MGCOOL website.
