Galaxy S9 Dual SIM variant with improved Iris scanner - reports and rumors suggest

11 December 2017 4

As the launch of the upcoming smartphone beast from the Korean tech giant is drawing near, we are experiencing an ever-increasing list of rumors and speculations regarding what it would offer. Some believe that the phone might be released ahead of the upcoming MWC.

It’s possible that Samsung might bring dual-SIM variant for the ones who look forward enjoy multiple carriers. What hints about this is the filing for regulatory approval for dual SIM handset which is denoted as SM-G9608 where ‘8’ is meant for the Taiwan model Two other dual SIM models suggest the presence of Galaxy S9+ that is denoted by entry number SM-G9650. Knowing how Galaxy S8 was marked at SM-G950 and S8+ denoted as SM-G955, it’s quite possible that the entries in the Chinese MIIT and on the FCC site are possible successors.

Other rumors suggest that the upcoming smartphone beast would be packing an improved quality iris scanner with increased resolution and less time for the successful scan. The camera is thought to be bumped up to 3MP which is a considerable improvement to the last year’s 2MP that is on Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Insiders who are familiar with this information shared:

“The iris camera lens will be improved to 3 megapixels from 2 megapixels of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 to capture clearer images. The scanner will better recognize users’ irises even when they wear eyeglasses, move their eyeballs or are in a too dark or too light environment,”
