Google Home Max reportedly performs better compared to Apple HomePod

13 February 2018 3

Cupertino tech giant Apple made HomePod available recently that were quite well taken from audiophiles, critics and everyday users though it seems that the search giant Google has a better offering in the shape of Google HomeMax in addition to smart speaker Sonos One, as shared by consumer reports that share how these competitors possibly sound better.

Not that the ‘full evaluation’ is completed as shared by the Consumer Reports, Google Home Max and SonosOne receive a slightly better rating than Apple HomePod having a rating of ‘Very Good’. Currently, the evaluation scores aren't yet out though the results are said to be released in ‘the next few weeks’.

The report shares how HomdPod would serve the fans well overall though looking deeper into how it performs, Apple HomePod has some basic flaws when compared to Home Max where its bass ‘was a bit boomy and overemphasized and the midrange tones were somewhat hazy’ compared to much clearer sound of Google Home Max and Sonos One. As shared by the report:

“The HomePod will serve many music fans well, but CR testers did hear some flaws. The HomePod’s bass was a bit boomy and overemphasized. And the midrange tones were somewhat hazy, meaning that some of the nuance in vocals, guitars, and horns was lost: These elements of the music couldn’t be heard as distinctly as in more highly rated speakers. Treble sounds, like cymbals, were underemphasized. But the HomePod played reasonably loudly in a midsized room.

The bottom line? Overall the sound of the HomePod was a bit muddy compared with what the Sonos One and Google Home Max delivered.”
