Google launches Gallery Go, an AI-based offline photo gallery app

24 July 2019 0

Android Go, the stripped-down version of Android that has been designed for the entry-level smartphones is a house for plenty of lightweight apps. These include Google’s apps that occupy lesser space and require as low as 1GB RAM, thus don’t go heavy on the CPU and ultimately on the performance. Now, Google has optimized one more app for the smartphones running Android Go and this is the Gallery app.

The all-new Gallery Go is a photo organization app which is intended for offline use while taking up as low space as possible. The weight of the app is only 10MB, so it’s not going to take much room, of course, and nor it’s going affect your device’s RAM. The best part is, it supports the use of SD cards so you can store images wherever you choose.

The Gallery Go is launched by Google for Nigeria but will be available worldwide. It’s aimed at users in developing countries where access to the internet is limited.

The latest lightweight app uses AI just like Google Photos to organize your photo collection and make it easy to search for what you need. Other interesting features that have been also added to the Gallery Go app are auto-enhance to spice up your pictures and simple tools are also available like crop, rotate, and filters.

The Gallery Go app is available in the Play Store for devices running Android 8.1 Oreo or above. The app will come pre-installed on the Itel S15 and other devices.
