Essential has been keeping a good track of offering the newest software updates to its only phone. And now following its own footsteps, the company has once again brought a major operating system update for PH-1. The two years old model has now received Android 10 and that too on the very first day of operating system’s release. This is an incredible thing to note about the company that it’s still feeding the updates to its device.
The newest upgrade is rolling out to “select Open Market customers” today which means if you purchased the phone through Sprint, you’ll have to wait. But in other cases, it should be available.
The newest Android upgrades are made available by only a few OEMs during the first wave of release. Pixel devices gain them first and Essential Phone joins them every time. Now, OnePlus has also joined this band by starting the Android 10 beta updates for its two newest devices. What more interesting is, Xiaomi is also updating the Redmi K20 Pro today in India and China.
Android 10 brings many key features, including the Dark Mode, Smart Reply, Gesture Navigation, Live Caption, new Digital Wellbeing features, more Granular Privacy settings.
With the Android 10 release, Google has ditched the dessert-based naming scheme and kept things simple. This implies the upcoming releases of Android will only be addressed using a numbers scheme.
