HDM Global has officially announced the rollout of Nokia 2 Android 8.1 Oreo beta update. The announcement came via a tweet where it invited the users of the budget smartphone to come forward and test the latest Android version before the public release. This release also means that HMD Global has now upgraded its complete portfolio of the 2017 Android devices to the latest version.
The Nokia 2 was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat last year and is now skipping Android 8.0 Oreo and jumping straight to Android 8.1 Oreo. This is quite impressive as HMD Global has not only upgraded the device to the newer version but has also done so according to the schedule. With Android 8.1 Oreo beta out already, it should not take long for the stable version to become available to all users. If interested, you can get the beta version by visiting Nokia Beta Labs.
To give you an overview, the Nokia 2 sports a 5-inch HD display with the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There is an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. The whole package is powered by a 4000mAh battery but it does not feature a fingerprint scanner.
