Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus with dual rear cameras and 19:9 display unveiled in India

HMD Global has unveiled the Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus smartphones in India. The company started the event with the claim that it’s back in the top 10 smartphone brands globally and that too within the less than 2 years of re-entering the smartphone industry. Also, in more than 25 markets, Nokia is already staying in the first 5 brands.

The company says that it's focusing on the key markets and India is at the very center in this vision. According to the company, India will see a more frequent participation of HMD in the near future. The company also plans to double down its manufacturing capacity in the Indian market to meet the growing demands and it also expects the revenue to get doubled by the end of this year.

Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 6.1 Plus have been launched under the Android One program so you can expect faster updates in the future. Also, this would bring the App actions and more such productive features to the newly launched smartphones.

Nokia 6.1 Plus

Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and comes with a dual-rear camera. This is the same phone that got launched in China with the name Nokia X6. It features a 5.8-inch full HD+ display with a 2280x1280 pixels resolution. It has a 2.5D glass at the rear and it’s 8mm in thickness. It’s powered by Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be further expanded using the microSD card.

It comes with 16MP and 5MP camera sensors on the back with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) along with HDR and a bokeh mode. The AI integration helps the camera in recognizing the objects and deliver better results. There’s a 16MP front camera with a f/2.0 aperture.

Nokia 5.1 Plus

Alongside the Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD Global also launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus that also includes the 19:9 display and has dual rear cameras. The phone is powered by MediaTek's Helio P60 processor and has 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. It has a 2.5D glass on the back just like the Nokia 6.1 Plus. But, unlike the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the Nokia 5.1 Plus hasn't been made available for the pre-orders. It will be available in September and the price tag will also be revealed near to its availability.

The dual rear cameras come with the Artificial Intelligence assistance. The Nokia 5.1 Plus runs Android Oreo with the promise of three years of monthly security updates and two years of upgrades to help keep you secure. Also, it comes with the free, unlimited high-quality photo storage with Google Photos.

Price and availability

Nokia 6.1 Plus will be available from August 30th, 2018 at Rs. 15,999. Pre-orders are already started on Flipkart and Nokia's official website. Flipkart has, however, listed the device as coming soon, you can enter your email ID for the notification.

Nokia 5.1 Plus will be available from September and the pricing details will be revealed near to the availability, according to the company.

During the announcement, the company also announced that it's also overhauling the camera experience on Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8.1 Sirocco with a cleaner UI and Google Motion and Lens integration.
