As Android 9.0 Pie was getting rolled out for the latest flagship from HMD Global in the shape of Nokia 7 Plus that came out just last week, the company shared that the earlier phones would be getting the latest Android update soon too. This announcement was made on the launch event of Nokia 7.1 that took place in London.
Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus would be getting the update this month (October) while the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco would have the update available in the next month (November) though there is no fixed timeline that the company has promised though gave this rough time span. Nokia smartphones are promised to get Android updates after 2 years of the device’s launch and the security updates would keep pouring in for 3 years.
In case you’re wondering, the latest Android 9.0 Pie update would be featuring the powerful AI (Artificial intelligence) features in addition to the much awaited adaptive battery feature that allows limiting the battery hogging apps that the user don’t tend to use often. Likewise, the app actions allow offering the next possible action related to an app that you’d be choosing, by predicting the usage patterns. Nokia had already promised that all its models would be getting the Android 9 Pie. On those lines, looks like the update is round the corner.
Even the Nokia 7.1 will get the Android 9 Pie update next month, though it now comes with Android 8 Oreo.
Talking about the Nokia 7.1, it is just announced with Oreo and getting the Pie next month. Could have come with the A9P directly then?
