Nokia 8.1 now official with 20MP selfie camera, Snapdragon 710 SoC and Android Pie at $450

05 December 2018 3

After tons of leaks and rumors, the Nokia 8.1 is finally official in a dedicated event held in Dubai by HMD Global. As expected the Nokia 8.1 is actually the global market variant of Nokia X7 which was announced for the Chinese market couple of months ago. In terms of specs sheet both the devices are same, however, the only difference is Nokia 8.1 is pre-installed with Android Pie instead of Android Oreo 8.1

The Nokia 8.1 is featuring a 6.18-inches display with full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 18.7:9 with HDR10 support. The display brightness level is 500 nits which means it will be a brighter display even under direct sunlight. Under the hood, the Qualcomm's Octa-core Snapdragon 710 chipset is powering the device with max clocking at 2.2Ghz. The chipset is accompanied with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Its native storage is further expandable up to 400GB via MicroSD

On the rear side, the Nokia 8.1 has dual Zeiss certified lens. The primary snapper is a 12MP module with f/1.8 aperture, optical and electronic image stabilization whereas the secondary snapper is a depth-sensing 13MP module. Up front, the selfie snapper is 20MP with f/2.0 aperture. It features 4-in-1 pixel binning tech which combines four pixels into one to enhance the capturing capabilities in low-light scenarios. Like other Nokia premium phones, the Nokia 8.1 also comes with Bothie feature so that user can capture using both front and rear cameras simultaneously.

For connectivity, the device has USB-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. The Nokia 8.1 dimensions are 154.8x75.76x7.97mm and weigh 178g. A 3,500mAh battery is keeping its lights on and also supports 18W fast charger.

As far as availability is a concern the Nokia 8.1 will be available for purchase in Iron/ Steel, Blue/ Silver, Steel/ Copper colors from mid-December for the European and Middle East buyers at a price tag of 399 Euros.
