There have been enough speculations on HMD Global planning a successor to the Nokia 9 PureView. Leaks and rumors have equally posed possibilities but the phone hasn’t materialized yet. First, it was thought to be the Nokia 9.1 PureView and now fast forward to 2020, we are learning that the name is rather going to be the Nokia 9.2 PureView.
According to the tips circulating, the phone has been delayed as the company is re-evaluating a few important things and preparing a better version to present this year. The tipster Nokia Anew, who shares new details on upcoming Nokia phones has shared via Twitter that the successor of Nokia 9 PureView is Nokia 9.2 and it is likely to be delayed until autumn 2020.
The reason behind this delay is said to be the replacement of the processor which is going to be the latest Snapdragon 865. Well, we can’t comment on the substantiality of this, but the reason for the delay does make a lot of sense. Employing a better processor would make the device in question more capable in terms of many things.
The Snapdragon 865 processor holds some beasty hardware and is rated to deliver some better performance than its predecessor. It comes with Snapdragon X55 5G modem that is capable of offering up to 7.5 Gbps download speeds and supports all the major 5G frequencies from around the world. So, it could also be possible that HMD Global is planning to launch a high-end 5G phone as well.
Note that during Qualcomm’s Tech Summit in December 2019, Nokia confirms that it will launch a 5G phone utilizing the very fresh Snapdragon 765 processor. It was also confirmed that the phone will have a PureView display. So, while it is confirmed that a mid-range Nokia Android 5G phone is coming, there are still doubts about the higher-end one.
However, the latest tip does come as a support, at least for now and we can rely on it for the time being until we get something substantial. If turns out to be true, Nokia will have, at least, two 5G phones in its portfolio in the year 2020. The said autumn time is too far and the fans may not want Nokia to launch an already-delayed high-end phone too late. But, let’s just wait for more tips and leaks to come in to make us more updated on the same.
