As expected, Xiaomi has officially unveiled Mi NoteBook 14 series at an online event in India. It is the first time that the brand has ventured into the laptop's product category in the country. The series has two models named NoteBook 14 and NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition where the latter is the flagship offering.
The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is made up of A5052, an alloy of aluminum and magnesium, that makes it lightweight while being sturdy at the same time. It is said to weigh only 1.35 kilograms and is being touted as ultra-thin and ultra-light. The notebook sports a 14-inch Full HD "Horizon" Anti-glare display within a 13.3-inch footprint. This is because of the minimal bezels that the laptop has on all four sides and results in an impressive 91% screen-to-body ratio.
Under the hood, it is packed with 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. There is 8GB of DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU for handling graphics-intensive processes. Both variants come with 512GB of SSD storage for faster read and write speeds. Xiaomi is claiming a battery life of up to 10 hours along with fast charging support.
It has a scissor keyboard that is claimed to offer a pitch per key of 19mm. Each of the letters on the keyboard is said to be screen printed instead of going for stickers. It further has stereo speakers with DTS audio processing for a premium audio output. The connectivity options include two USB 3.1 ports, a USB Type-C port, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It does not have an in-built webcam but all buyers will get an external Mi Webcam HD bundled with the purchase. Additionally, the notebook will run Windows 10 Home Edition out of the box and will also offer a one-month free trial to Microsoft Office 365.
Xiaomi has priced the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition at Rs. 54,999 (about $725) for the Core i5 variant and at Rs. 59,999 (about $792) for the Core i7 variant. These will be available for purchase starting June 17th via Mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Home, and Mi Studio outlets.
The standard Mi NoteBook 14 has been released in three configuration variants. All the three variants are powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core i5 processor coupled with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. These differ in the choice of the graphics card and onboard storage which is also the basis of the price difference.
- Intel UHD Graphics 620 with 256GB SSD storage for Rs. 41,999 (about $554)
- Intel UHD Graphics 620 with 512GB SSD storage for Rs. 44,999 (about $594)
- NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU with 512GB SSD storage for Rs. 47,999 (about $633)
It should be noted that these are inaugural prices and valid only until July 16th. Xiaomi has not revealed actual prices yet but we should hear about them once this special offer ends.
